Election Day Hangover

October 15, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I know you’re thinking I’m gonna write something clever about the Canadian election. WEll, not really – hust some observations. It’s a lousy day for Canadian cities, especially Toronto, as Montreal and Toronto voted Liberal and the rural parts of Canada voted Conservative. What does that tell you? Who lives in the city and who lives in the suburbs and countryside? Olivia Chow credits condo-dwellers for her win in the downtown Toronto riding of Trinity-Spadina. I’m not impressed with this election and not impressed with a minority government and, finally, completely uninspired by the three main leaders.

Think about this: if Stephen Harper couldn’t win a majority against this slate of extremely weak leaders –  especially in the Liberal ranks – how do you think Harper and the Conservatives will fare against a Liberal leader with some vision? Somewhere out there is a leader with vision, hope and a blush of charisma that might inspire this moribund nation. Step up, would ya?
